Iowa State hosted Nebraska for a swimming and diving meet on Oct. 26 at Beyer Hall.

At Friday’s meet in Dallas, the Cyclone Swimming and Diving Team defeated TCU (161-135) but fell to SMU (184-114), bringing its record to 3-2 (1-0 Big 12) on the season.

The strong quartet of Emily Haan, Martha Haas, Elynn Tan and Evan Hundley started off the night by continuing their success in the 200-yard medley relay, earning second place with a time of 1:44.30.

Anna Andersen had a stellar night in the pool as she placed first in the 100 (51.36) and 200 (1:52.04) freestyle events, as well as being a key member of the second-place finishing 400-yard freestyle relay team.

The impressive freshman duo of Haan (57.17) and Wyli Erlechman (58.33) teamed up for second and third in the 100 backstroke.

Haas showed off her talents in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, placing 2nd (1:05.13) and 3rd (2:22.74), respectively.

Lucia Rizzo was close to earning another top finish for the Cyclones, as she touched the wall .2 seconds late in the 500 Freestyle. She also finished third in the 200 individual medley.

Dana Liva was also close to a first-place finish, as she fell .75 points short to Izzy Ashdown of TCU in the 1-meter diving platform. Liva competed in the 3-meter diving event as well, placing fourth.

Iowa State’s next competition will split the Cyclone swimmers and divers. The diving team will be in Iowa City, Iowa, for the Iowa Invitational while the swim team will be in Topeka, Kansas, for the Kansas Classic. Those meets will take place from Nov. 15-18.
