Iowa State senior Meaghan Sievers competes on beam during the third rotation of the Iowa State vs Oklahoma gymnastics meet. The No. 23 ranked Cyclones were defeated by the No. 1 ranked Sooners 196.275-197.575.

The Cyclones were able to clinch third place at the 2019 Big 12 Championship Saturday. Coming off two close losses to No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 5 Denver, both who were part of the Big 12 Championship. The Cyclones came together with a final score of 195.950 which included multiple 9.900’s.

Floor

Maddy Langkamp: 9.700

Cassie Diaz: 9.775

Laura Burns: 9.800

Sophia Steinmeyer: 9.800

Molly Russ: 9.800

Meaghan Sievers: 9.625

Starting off the afternoon, Burns landed a 9.800 which was followed by Steinmeyer with a 9.800 and then again followed by Russ who also scored a 9.800. Russ has scored a 9.800 or higher in the last five meets.

 Vault

Ariana Orrego: 9.775

Kelsey Boychuk: 9.725

Sydney Converse: 9.725

Kelly Martin: 9.800

Sophia Steinmeyer: 9.800

Meaghan Sievers: 9.900

Sievers was able to close out vault on the day for Iowa State with a 9.900. This was the third time on the season Sievers posted this score.

Bars

Maddy Langkamp: 9.775

Madeline Johnson: 9.800

Laura Burns: 9.825

Meaghan Sievers: 9.900

Ana Palacios: 9.700

Natalia Ros Vaquer: 9.900

Scoring a 9.900, Ros Vaquer was a standout on the bars for the Cyclones. Ros Vaquer started competing in the bars unit a few weeks ago and was able to clinch the third highest score on bars for the season. Sievers was also able to stick the landing and score a 9.900.

Beam

Sophia Steinmeyer: 9.775

Meixi Semple: 9.775

Sydney Converse: 9.800

Molly Russ: 9.075

Meaghan Sievers: 9.825

Grace Woolfolk: 9.700

Sievers on her fourth and final event on the afternoon came out with a 9.825 on the beam. In the last four meets, Sievers has gone 9.800 or higher. Converse followed behind Sievers with a 9.800.

Heading into postseason action now, Iowa State will be set to compete for the NCAA Regional Championships starting April 4th.
