Activities and clubs to join to stay active

Things to do outdoors:

ISU students who want to stay fit but enjoy being outdoors have the option of multiple trails located throughout Ames. Avid ISU Running Club member, Jordan Larson, shares some of her favorite trails to go running near campus. “A few of the trails around campus that I really like are the YMCA trails which are located close to campus, which you can access through the golf course.” Jordan also suggests Carr Woods, located just down the street from the hospital. “Carr Woods is a 4.5 mile loop. Her favorite place to run in Ada Hayden Park, which is in North Ames, and it’s really pretty with a lake to run around. It’s also great for long runs. Any of the trails mentioned can be great for a long run or bike ride.
