It's so good to be a Cyclone! Last week I attended the Mid-American Greek Council Association's annual meeting in Chicago. This was my seventh year at the conference; I have been attending the conference since my freshmen year at Iowa State when I first began serving as an Interfraternity Council leader.

There are many exciting programs at the annual meeting, but perhaps my greatest pleasure as an alumnus of Iowa State is meeting the current fraternity and sorority community leaders and learning about what's happening at "home."

I am never less than amazed by these student leaders. The community and its leadership continue to be innovative, progressive, servant-leadership minded and an excellent ambassador for the university.

At the conference, seeing the Interfraterntiy Council win the Jellison Award and the Panhellenic Council win the Sutherland Award filled me with excitement. These awards recognize the top greek communities among approximately 27 Midwestern states - Iowa State's greek community annually performs well and this year, for the second year in a row, both councils received the top ranking.

The greek community at Iowa State is truly a special place. Congratulations to the student leaders, chapter leaders, professional staff and alumni advisers. I am a product of the ISU greek community - I could not be more proud. Keep it up! If you're not greek at Iowa State, maybe it's time to consider membership and be part of something annually recognized as "the best."
