EDITORIAL: A good name change

Finally, a name change the university can be happy with.

Beginning this fall, Alumni Hall will become the Enrollment Services Center to avoid confusion with the new Alumni Center that's slated to open on Beach Avenue this June. Alumni Hall is an especially noteworthy building on campus since it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

It's a move that's bound to be more popular than last year's change from Elwood Drive to University Boulevard, which was met with a lukewarm-at-best reception, or the renaming of Old Botany to Catt Hall in the '90s, which was met with vociferous opposition.

After all, this name change makes sense. Aside from We Sign Pink Slips Here Hall, the Enrollment Services Center probably sums up the building's function best. And since incoming students start their "adventure" at the building, separating from the new Alumni Center is a wise move.
