It's sour grapes to complain about a campuswide vote fairly lost. It's a journalistic prerequisite to dissect a referendum that was done without integrity. Since the Board of Regents approved the student fee increase, it's crucial that we're vigilant about dissecting the latter.

Sex! Violence! Language! Drugs! Alcohol! Crime! What do these things have in common? They're all explicitly portrayed in the new video game by developer Rockstar, "Grand Theft Auto IV." And, boy, are those details getting attention. Jack Thompson, a lawyer now infamous for his continued assaults on video games, said of GTAIV, "Grand Theft Auto IV is the gravest assault upon children in this country since polio.

It's one thing to be left in Ames for the summer term. That carries all its own pitfalls - a college town drained of its collegiate population, two-hour long classes that don't change every other day, the Iowa summer heat and humidity, and the lack of a beach, deck chair or pina colada all make the list.
